Monday, June 10, 2013
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Gov. Jay Nixon is planning a weeklong trip to Europe to promote Missouri business interests.
Nixon is to depart Friday for France, where he plans to attend the International Paris Air Show. The governor’s office says Nixon also will go to the Normandy American Cemetery to honor the 232 Missourians who were buried there after dying in World War II.
Nixon is to fly to the United Kingdom on June 19 and Belgium on June 20 before returning to the U.S. on June 22.
The governor’s travel costs are being paid by the Hawthorn Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes economic growth in Missouri.
This is Nixon’s fourth foreign trade trip as governor. He traveled to South Korea and Taiwan earlier this year and previously went to Brazil and China.
