Chamois eyes community center plan

The Chamois Industrial Development Corporation (CIDC) is proposing a community center for the downtown area.

The Chamois Welcome Center will provide many possibilities including an instructional facility for GED students, a meeting place for various organizations, senior center for socialization, and hot meals, a food pantry and visitor information center.

The building at 107 Main St. has been targeted as the center at a cost of $355,000 to renovate and add a kitchen.

The CIDC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Chamois and is seeking tax-deductible donations to help fund the preliminary planning costs, preparation and matching funds for grants and other costs.
