Your Opinion: Assault on Christianity

Dear Editor:

On May 1 the News Tribune graciously published the following letter I submitted:

"Today, we face incredibly well-funded gangs of fundamentalist Christian monsters who terrorize their fellow Americans by forcing their weaponized and twisted version of Christianity upon their helpless subordinates in our nation's armed forces."

Guess what! This is a quote by Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), who will be a consultant to the Pentagon to develop new policies on religious tolerance, including a policy for court-martialing military chaplains who share the Christian Gospel during spiritual counseling of American troops. The entire column can be read on the following website: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-l-weinstein/fundamentalist-christian-_b_3072651.html

Is there anybody out there that cares about this country anymore? Where is the outcry? I wonder if it will even make the news other than on the Internet. God help us!

I'm writing to submit a follow-up on Mikey Weinstein as to his apparent unstoppable influence on Pentagon policy to eliminate any and all Christian influence on military personnel.

On or about May 31, Mikey Weinstein called the Pentagon demanding that a painting-style picture in the dining hall of Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho of a U.S. Airman with imagery of the cross, above the word "Integrity" and with a reference to Matthew 5:9. (That verse reads, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."). Less than one hour later the picture was permanently removed. I reference the following website for verification: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/06/02/Pentagon-Denies-Relationship-with-Anti-Christian-Extremist-But-Instantly-Complies-with-His-Demands.

Can anybody deny the fact that this fanatic has the power to eliminate any and all access to the Christian faith in the military? I wonder what the outcome of any of the wars would have been without any Christian influence and chaplains for prayers and counseling for our wounded and dying soldiers? The direction the Pentagon is taking in the name of separation of church and state is just another chip at our Christian heritage and will result in nothing but to speed up our descent into an irrelevant third world status with a less than honorable and devoted military!

Stand up Christians, if you care about our country.
