NDIANAPOLIS (AP) — With injured rookie star Brittney Griner sitting out against the defending champions, Diana Taurasi stepped up and led the Phoenix Mercury to their first win of the season.
Taurasi scored 15 of her 26 points in the second half and the short-handed Mercury beat the Indiana Fever 82-67 Saturday. DeWanna Bonner added 24 points and 11 rebounds for Phoenix (1-3).
Griner, selected No. 1 overall by Phoenix in this year's WNBA draft, was a late scratch from the lineup with a left knee sprain.
MYSTICS 85, LYNX 80
WASHINGTON (AP) — Ivory Latta scored 17 of her 24 points in the second half, Monique Currie had 23 and Washington fended off Minnesota's fourth-quarter rally for the victory.
Currie scored 18 in the first half and combined with Latta to shoot 17 for 26 on field goals for the Mystics (3-1), who won only five games last season. Coupled with Friday's 66-62 victory at Connecticut, Washington has won consecutive games for the first time since 2010.
Maya Moore scored 22 points and Rebekkah Brunson had 21 points and 17 rebounds for the Lynx (2-1), who shot 38.5 percent from the field and 62 percent (13 of 21) at the foul line. Seimone Augustus also scored 21 for Minnesota, which had won four straight over the Mystics.

Toliver made a long jumper to give the Sparks (2-1) the lead for good at 68-67. Harding made four free throws in overtime and an impressive right-hand scoop shot that pushed it to 74-69. The Shock (1-5) were held to three points and one field goal in overtime.
Candace Parker added 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Sparks, although she was held to five points in the second half and overtime.
Glory Johnson led Tulsa with 17 points and rookie Skylar Diggins had 10. Three of Tulsa's five losses have come in overtime this season.
