I-70 interchange work ahead of schedule

A Jefferson City contractor is two months ahead of schedule on a project to build a new interchange on Interstate 70 in Columbia.

MoDOT said that eastbound ramps leading from I-70 to the Route Z interchange are to be opened today. Crews will also start pouring the bridge deck for the new overpass.

Don Schnieders Excavating Company has been working to allow traffic on I-70 to again have access to the south I-70 outer road.

The entire project is to be done by Aug. 5.
