Michael Dixon heads to Memphis

Former Missouri guard Michael Dixon made it official.

"It's Official Once a Tiger always a Tiger," Dixon said on his Twitter account Wednesday night, announcing he was transferring to Memphis for his senior season.

It is unclear when Dixon, who has one year of eligibility remaining, will be able to play at Memphis. Dixon, who was kicked off Missouri's basketball team last November after a female student accused him of sexual assault, is hoping to receive a waiver from the NCAA to allow him to play immediately. Normally, transfers have to sit out a season before regaining their eligibility and Dixon did not play in a game last year at Missouri.

The charge was the second made against Dixon since January 2010.

As a junior, Dixon averaged 13.5 points and 3.3 assists per game off the bench and earned national sixth man of the year honors from several media outlets.

Dixon had also taken an official visit to East Carolina and was also reportedly drawing interest from Baylor and Colorado.
