2 of 3 held in home invasion, chase

Two people are in custody and one is being sought after a home invasion Monday night in Cole County.

As of Tuesday afternoon, only one person had been charged in this case. Byron Davis, 19, of 300 W. Ashley St., was charged with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and resisting arrest.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., three men forced their way into an apartment at 5209 Collier Court, according to sheriff's reports. The three suspects were identified as black males.

One of the victims told deputies he opened the door after hearing knocking on the front door of the apartment.

The suspects confronted two of the four residents, forcing them to lie on the floor during the robbery.

One suspect was armed with a handgun and another with a hammer. It is unclear whether the third suspect had a weapon.

One victim was struck in the head with hand gun while laying on the ground.

The suspects left the apartment taking with cash and several electronic devices.

The victims gave authorities a description and direction of the suspect vehicle. After spotting the vehicle, deputies chased it when it refused to stop.

The suspects crashed their vehicle into a rock bluff at Route C and Hemstreet Road and fled on foot.

With the assistance from the Jefferson City Police Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol, Davis and another suspect were captured.

A hammer and gun were found inside the vehicle along with some of the items taken in the robbery.
