Columbia College's Marli Hayes was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association all-region squad on Tuesday.
Hayes (Jefferson City High Schools) was a second-team selection for the Midwest Region, joining 132 other student-athletes from NAIA programs.
Hayes started all 40 contests for the Cougars and earned first-team American Midwest Conference honors after hitting .348 and leading the club with five home runs. The junior also led the squad with 19 walks and posted a .937 fielding percentage at third base.
NFCA member coaches in each of the five regions select the all-region teams. Honorees now become eligible to be tabbed to one of two NFCA NAIA All-American teams.
