Your Opinion: Governor's inaction offers chance to live

Dear Editor:

The state has an interest in protecting the unborn. Right now 20 percent of all pregnancies end in abortion. That is one in five! 1.2 million unborn babies are aborted in this country every year. This is a grave injustice to those children in the womb who are aborted - abortion is 100 percent fatal for them.

Nixon's failure to veto HB400 will change nothing about how Planned Parenthood and the other abortion providers in this state do business. What it will do is hopefully curb the number of children who never have the chance to live. And perhaps then these children will grow up, get a job, and become tax paying citizens to help pay for things like health care, welfare and food stamps for those who can't. These things aren't free, after all.

You need working people to pay for them. But first, you need people. They are the state's greatest asset!
