Springfield man charged in girlfriend's killing

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A 30-year-old Springfield man has been charged with fatally shooting his girlfriend.

Jonathan Greer has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in Thursday's killing of 34-year-old Angela Holbrook. Bond has been set at $200,000. It isn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.

A probable cause statement released Friday says Greer and Holbrook had been drinking alcohol and arguing before the shooting.

The Springfield News-Leader (http://is.gd/fxmjSA) reports that one witness told police that Greer and Angie had gone into a back bedroom after an argument became physical. A short time later, the witness said he heard a gunshot, and then Greer came out of the bedroom holding a gun in his hand. The witness said Greer told him he had shot Holbrook.
