Missing woman found

An elderly woman who went missing this morning was found at mid-day.

Jefferson City police reported that Mabel Bradford Haygood was picked up by an officer after a citizen saw her in Jefferson City's west end.

Haygood, in her late 80s, suffers from dementia, and may have been disoriented, police said.

She was reported missing this morning from the DoubleTree Hotel, where she was attending this weekend's Lincoln University Alumni Convention.

Officers determined Haygood left the hotel between midnight and 8 a.m.

She had been found wandering last night, and was taken by authorities to an area hospital, where she was treated, then returned to the hotel.

After being found about 11:30 a.m., police said she again was taken in for treatment and to check her well-being.
