Chicago gang member caught in Jefferson City (VIDEO)

A Chicago gang member was taken into custody after a confrontation with Jefferson City police, Thursday.

At about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, members of the Jefferson City Police Department's Community Action Team were conducting surveillance in the area of the 900 block of East Miller when they developed information that a suspect wanted out of Chicago on a parole violation for weapons offenses was in Jefferson City.

While confirming the information, the suspect was spotted as the passenger in a vehicle in the area and officers stopped that vehicle to investigate.

When the vehicle was stopped, the suspect, Latrell Doss, 22, attempted to flee, but was chased down by officers.

Doss attempted to fight officers and he made various threats to the officers before he was taken into custody.

Communications between Chicago police and Jefferson City police began after the robbery of a beauty salon in Chicago on June 3 implicated Doss as the primary suspect.

In that robbery, which Chicago authorities described as very violent, Doss and a female suspect went into a south-side Chicago salon and assaulted employees, knocking one out, and threatened use of a firearm during the robbery.

Doss and his accomplice left with about $5,000 in human hair and $2,000 in cash, and his picture was broadcast in the Chicago area by authorities as a wanted person.

It is believed he left the Chicago area after the robbery and came to mid-Missouri and has since been giving false information to Jefferson City police on multiple occassions.

Doss, in addition to the parole absconder warrant out of Cook County, IL, was also wanted for questioning with other robberies and shootings and is known to be a member of the Black Disciples gang, known for their violence in Chicago.
