SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Dan Hughes finally earned his 200th career victory in a difficult season for the San Antonio coach.
With his top two players out with season-ending knee injuries and others sidelined by various ailments, the Silver Stars have been struggling in a bid for a seventh straight postseason appearance.
On Thursday, Danielle Adams led San Antonio to its second straight win, scoring 20 points and adding eight rebounds and six assists in a 65-53 victory over the New York Liberty.
Hughes joins Washington Mystics coach Mike Thibault and former Houston Comets coach Van Chancellor as the only WNBA coaches with 200 wins.
Cappie Pondexter had 20 points for New York (7-11), which has lost four of five. It marked the second straight game San Antonio has limited an opponent to one player in double figures. Plenette Pierson and Alex Montgomery each added seven points.
Danielle Robinson had 17 points and six assists, and Jayne Appel added 13 rebounds for San Antonio (6-12).
FEVER 71, SHOCK 60
TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Tamika Catchings had 23 points and moved into fourth place in the WNBA's all-time scoring list while leading the Indiana Fever past the Tulsa Shock.
Shavonte Zellous added 19 points against her former team, and Karima Christmas added 11 for the defending champion Fever (8-9).
Catchings moved past Seattle's Lauren Jackson on the all-time list with 6,024 career points. The 13-year veteran also had a game-high nine rebounds. After starting the season with injuries and losing seven of eight games, the win was the seventh in the last nine games.
Liz Cambage led the Shock (6-14) with 13 points.
STORM 73, SPARKS 66
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Tina Thompson scored 23 points to lead Seattle over Los Angeles.
Thompson, selected to a record ninth All-Star game as a replacement for injured Brittney Griner, also had eight rebounds and Tanisha Wright added 15 points as the Storm (7-10) snapped a seven-game losing streak to Los Angeles.
Candace Parker scored 24 points for the Sparks (12-6), who have lost two straight at home after a 19-game regular-season home winning streak, the second-longest in league history.
