JCPD investigate weekend death on McKinley Street

Jefferson City police are investigating a death at 208 McKinley St. that officers responded to on Saturday morning.

Other media have reported the death as being suspicious, but Sgt. Jeff Stieferman on Sunday would only confirm that it's being investigated.

He said the department's public information officer planned to issue a statement to the media on Monday.

The call came in at 10:18 a.m. Saturday.

Neighbors said the man who lived there kept to himself.

Jennifer Holmes, a neighbor across the street, said a man in his late 30s or early 40s lived in the house, but said she didn't know him. She said thought he had two children, a boy and a girl, around the ages of 8-10.

A swing set and a few kids toys were in the fenced-in back yard of the house.

Several police cars responded to the house on Saturday, but no police presence was there on Sunday. The house was not blocked off with crime-scene tape or anything else.
