Robbery charges filed against local man

A Jefferson City man has been charged in connection with a robbery that occurred in May.

Quinnten Carter, 24, of 107 W. Main St., has been charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

According to police reports, officers responded to a residence on the east side of Jefferson City about an armed robbery that occurred earlier at a different location.

A 28-year-old Jefferson City man told police he had gone to the 1000 block of West Main Street to buy an electronic benefit transfer card from a person he knew, but was robbed.

He said he got into the vehicle with the person he knew, as well as two other suspects. As they left the area to complete the transaction, one of the suspects produced a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded the 28-year-old's property.

He handed over his wallet and was forced out of the vehicle a few blocks away. He then walked home and called police.

The victim confirmed Carter as a suspect when he picked him out of a photo lineup.
