PolyOne closing SE Mo. site

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - PolyOne, which makes resins used in plastic pipe and other products, says it's Cape Girardeau facility is among six plants the company is closing.

PolyOne announced Tuesday it will be closing six facilities that were acquired in March. The Southeast Missourian reports (http://bit.ly/16He55J ) that one of those facilities is the former Spartech plastics plant in Cape Girardeau.

PolyOne says in a news release the moves will save $25 million annually before tax.

The closing of the six facilities will result in the loss of about 250 jobs, and a company spokesman said 90 of those jobs are in Cape Girardeau.

The closures are expected to be complete by the end of 2014.
