Woman charged with robbery

A Jefferson City woman has been charged with second-degree robbery for forcibly stealing items from JC Penney’s at Capital Mall.

Lauren Distler, 22, of 2073 Turkey Gulch, is also charged with third-degree assault.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows Distler and two others attempted to steal more than $200 in merchandise.

A loss prevention officer attempted to detain Distler, but she punched, bit and pushed the officer.

Distler was able to get to her vehicle and fled the scene, but later was picked up.
