Law enforcement officers and rescue workers searching the Gasconade River near Vienna found a woman that had been reported missing.

Penny D. Curtner was able to successfully walk to a tent after being lost in the woods.

Curtner had minor injuries that were treated and she was released to her family.

"I have to thank the Vienna Fire Department, Belle Police, and the Linn Fire Department for their assistance," said Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman. "These individuals volunteered their time and personal boats to help us look for her. There was a lot of money and man hours invested in this search. We are very lucky that she was found safe, I had my doubts with the rain and storm."

The search started Tuesday afternoon when Curtner, 34, was reported missing by her family.

They suspended the search Tuesday evening and started again Wednesday morning.

Curtner had been last seen at approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday while floating down the Gasconade River by herself on a black and green tube.
