Elder takes fifth in Missouri Junior Amateur Championship

SMITHVILLE, Mo. - Several area golfers took part in the Missouri Junior Amateur Championship that wrapped up Tuesday at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex.

The top finish came in the Boys 14-15 division, as Jefferson City's Tanner Elder tied for fifth by shooting a 10-over score of 80-74-154. Jackson's Jack Litzenfelner III shot a 3-under (71-70-141) to win the crown.

Also in that division, Jefferson City's Gabriel Trowbridge finished 22nd (83-84-167).

In the Boys 16-18 division, Hartsburg's Blake Lammers (81-71-152) and Jefferson City's Kory Franks (74-78-152) were the only two area competitors and they tied for 27th place. Chase Hanna of Leawood, Kan., won the title by four strokes by shooting a 7-under score of 69-68-137.

Jefferson City's Jenna Kosmatka tied for 11th (84-85-169) in the Girls 16-18 division. Warrensburg's Taylor Black won it with a score of 71-79-150. Brooke Thompson of Jefferson City was 15th (89-84-173), Jefferson City's Hope Watson tied for 23rd (89-95-184) and Ashlee Marie Morrison of Jefferson City was 31st (123-97-220).

In the Girls 14-15 division, Russellville's Mikala Jungmeyer finished sixth (95-96-191). Mia Tovkach of Kansas City won the eight-girl field with a score of 174 (95-79).
