Sunday's MLS Capsules

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Bernardo Anor's early goal helped the Columbus Crew defeat Portland 1-0 on Sunday to end the Timbers' 15-game unbeaten streak.

Portland (7-2-9) had gone 7-0-8 since March 9. The Crew (6-8-5) ended a three-game losing streak.

Anor scored in the fourth minute off a restart from Federico Higuain for the second straight match with a snap header from 6 yards to the inside of the left post.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY 2, FIRE 1

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) - Benny Feilhaber and Graham Zusi scored in the first eight minutes, and Sporting Kansas City snapped Chicago's three-match winning streak.

The victory was Kansas City's second in seven matches, giving SKC 30 points.

Kansas City's two goals were scored 2:14 apart.

Feilhaber scored his first of the season in the sixth minute, hammering a right-footed shot from 16 yards when a throw-in by defender Matt Besler deflected off two players and ended up at his feet.

Chicago goalkeeper Paulo Tornaghi couldn't stop that shot, and seemed surprised by midfielder Zusi's nonchalant 20-yard shot soon after. It curled over Tornaghi and into the upper right-hand corner.

Mike Magee cut the margin to 2-1 in the 38th minute.

CHIVAS USA 1, IMPACT 1, tie

MONTREAL (AP) - Patrice Bernier scored from the penalty spot in the 80th minute, and Montreal tied Chivas USA.

Bernier's goal came after Mario De Luna took down Sanna Nyassi on the left edge of the penalty area.

Eric Avila scored for Chivas (3-10-4), the last place team in the Western Conference. Chivas has gone 13 games without a win, dating to a 2-1 victory over Vancouver on March 30.

The East-leading Impact (9-4-4) are winless in three games and have allowed eight goals in that span. Montreal's recent defensive woes surfaced again when low-scoring Chivas took a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute.

Montreal reached the halfway mark of its second season. The Impact were 5-9-3 as an expansion team last year at the midpoint.
