Post 5 Seniors split

The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors went 1-1 on Friday in the Southwest Illinois Tournament.
Post 5 defeated Fairview Heights 7-5 and fell 4-1 to St. Charles.
In the win against Fairview Heights, Post 5 scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to get the victory.
Patrick Schnieders and Conner Hager had two hits each in a nine-hit Post 5 attack. Trevor Schnieders, Patrick Schnieders and Hager all scored two runs.
Collin Brinker was the winner in relief, pitching the final three innings. Seth Lehmen was the starter, working the first six frames.
In the loss to St. Charles, Post 5 had three extra-base hits among their seven hits, but could score just one run.
Patrick Schnieders had a pair of doubles, while Cole Distler also doubled. Dylan Brauner also had two hits.
Patrick Schnieders took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk in 51⁄3 innings. He struck out eight.
Post 5 was scheduled to play a pair of games Saturday (results not immediately available) before concluding the tournament today.
