BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) - Chris Rolfe scored in the 84th minute to lift the Chicago Fire to a 3-2 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday night.

Patrick Nyarko and Dilly Duka also scored for the Fire (6-7-3).

On the winning score, Rolfe's second goal of the season came from about 8 yards out, set up by Mike Magee's pass between two defenders. About 12 minutes earlier, an own goal by Chicago's Loel Lindpere had tied the score.

Alan Gordon put the Earthquakes (5-8-6) ahead in the 14th minute, beating Chicago goalkeeper Paolo Tornaghi on a header rebound after his first header caromed off the crossbar.

Duka tied it on a volley from 12 yards out in the 36th minute and Nyarko made it 2-1 on a low drive from 9 yards out in the 47th.

SOUNDERS 2, D.C. UNITED 0

SEATTLE (AP) - Obafemi Martins scored his team-leading fifth and sixth goals of the season, and Michael Gspurning earned the shutout for Seattle.

Martins' first goal came at the end of the 19th minute. Eddie Johnson connected with Brad Evans on a give-and-go down the middle of the field, and Evans sent a long through ball toward the top of the penalty area restraining arc. Martins got behind United defender Ethan White, caught up with the ball, and sent a shot past goalkeeper Joe Willis to the back left corner.

His second came midway through second-half stoppage time, a 10-yarder from straight in front of the net.

Gspurning's shutout was his sixth of the season for the Sounders (7-5-3).

United (2-13-3) remained winless in eight road games this season (0-6-2), and was blanked for the 11th time.

IMPACT 3, TORONTO FC 3

TORONTO (AP) - Hassoun Camara and Marco Di Vaio scored one minute apart in the second half to lift Montreal to a draw with Toronto FC.

Andres Romero also scored for Montreal (9-4-3), just 23 seconds after the opening kickoff.

Jeremy Brockie, Steven Caldwell and Darren O'Dea scored for Toronto FC (2-8-7).

Trailing 3-1, Camara pulled Montreal within one after defenders Caldwell and Ryan Richter failed to deal with a high ball. Camara pounced on it and banged it in past Joe Bendik in the 69th minute.

Di Vaio tied it up a minute later with his 11th goal after Richter's clearing pass ended up on Felipe's boot. The Brazilian midfielder slipped the ball to Di Vaio who scored from in close.

WHITECAPS 1, SPORTING KC 1

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) - Camilo Sanvezzo scored on a free kick just before halftime and Vancouver played to a draw with Sporting Kansas City.

The Whitecaps (7-5-5) snapped a three-match winning streak broken while extending their unbeaten stretch to four.

Aurelien Collin scored in the 35th minute on a putback of his own blocked shot for Sporting (7-5-6), which is unbeaten in its last three but has won just once in the last seven matches.

Sanvezzo tied it in the 45th as he put his dipping shot in the upper right corner for his team-leading 10th goal of the season.

Sporting had a chance to go ahead in the 76th, but Graham Zusi's low shot smacked off the left post after beating goalkeeper Brad Knighton.

REAL SALT LAKE 2, UNION 2

SANDY, Utah (AP) - Javier Morales scored on a penalty kick in the closing seconds of stoppage time to lift Real Salt Lake to the draw with Philadelphia.

Luis Gil also had a goal as Salt Lake (10-5-4) extended its unbeaten streak to 11 matches, including US Open Cup play, while outscored opponents 27-9.

Conor Casey had a goal and an assist, and Sebastien Le Toux also scored for the Union (7-5-6), winless in six matches against Salt Lake.

Morales earned a penalty kick after Raymon Gaddis was called for a handball. Morales bounced the ball off the right post and sent it inside the left post to seal Salt Lake's comeback.
