Lincoln men, women to face off against Central Missouri

Last meets first today.

The Lincoln men's basketball team (3-17, 2-8 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association) hosts Central Missouri (14-3, 8-1 MIAA) at 7:30 p.m. at Jason Gym.

The Mules sit in first place having won eight straight conference games. Oddly enough, they rank no higher than fourth in any MIAA statistical category.

Central Missouri sits in fourth out of 15 teams in turnover margin (plus-2 a game) and 3-point field goal percentage defense (.328). The Mules are seventh in the league in scoring at 73.2 points and sixth in points allowed at 65.8.

Yet, Central Missouri sits atop the conference standings and is fifth in the receiving votes group in the latest NCAA Division II rankings released Tuesday.

The Lincoln women look to cool off a red-hot Central Missouri squad when the two meet at 5:30 p.m. today at Jason Gym.

The Jennies come in winners of 10-of-11 games and ascended to No. 11 in the country when the USA Today Coaches Poll came out Tuesday. Central Missouri (15-2, 7-2 MIAA) leads the MIAA averaging 74.3 points per game and sits in fourth place in the conference.

Lincoln (9-9, 4-6 MIAA) sits in 11th place needing to take advantage of the few home games left on the slate. Today mark's one of three home contests left on Lincoln's schedule, as the Blue Tigers still have five more road matchups ahead of them. The top 12 squads qualify for the MIAA Tournament.
