Blair Oaks outlasts Eugene in three overtimes

WARDSVILLE, Mo. — Basketball coaches are always imploring their players to step up and “make a play.”
That was about the only thing happening Tuesday night at Blair Oaks High School.
The Blair Oaks Falcons and Eugene Eagles battled through three overtimes, with players making big shot after big shot, before the Falcons emerged with a 79-77 victory.
And the biggest play of them all came with :13 left in the third overtime, when Blair Oaks’ Logan Gratz tipped in a missed free throw with the game tied at 77 to provide the final margin.
“That’s one of the greatest high-school games that I’ve coached in,” veteran Eugene coach Craig Engelbrecht said. “Like I said (in the locker room), it hurts tonight, but ....
