Mo. Gov. Nixon defends purchase of new airplane
Tuesday, January 29, 2013
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is defending the purchase of a new state airplane that can be used by the governor, other state officials and law enforcement officers.
Nixon says the $5.6 million airplane bought by the Missouri State Highway Patrol was a good long-term investment for law enforcement and safety.
The Democratic governor already has flown on the new King Air 250.
The patrol bought the plane with money from a fund for vehicles and aircraft. But some lawmakers are upset about the cost and the fact that the patrol did not tell them about the plane’s purchase in advance.
Senators have cited concerns about the new plane while delaying confirmation of Nixon’s appointee to head the Office of Administration.

Did he trade the old one in, or did he just keep it in the stable with the others?

I believe the Patrol said they bought the new plane to supplement the 'fleet', since the Guv was using the old one so much. What will be interesting to now see is, which one will the Guv use more now? Anyone wanna bet on that?? :-)

The one "reserved" for him. Unofficially, but everyone knows it is not to be used by anyone else. Little Hitlers all throughout state government have their new "special" cars reserved for only them- if any underling is caught driving it, there will be hell to pay.

Wonder if he'll put one of those "Aircraft" decals on his vehicles?

Maybe he'll have his face painted on the outside of the plane.
