Mo. AG recovered $50M from Medicaid fraud in 2012

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Attorney General Chris Koster says his Medicaid fraud unit collected more than $50 million last year.

Koster said the unit took action against 49 Medicaid health care providers in 2012, including 21 criminal cases and 29 civil cases. One provider was subject to both civil and criminal cases.

The amount recovered by the Medicaid fraud unit was up considerably from the $20 million that Koster’s office reported collecting in 2011.

In other words, 4.5% recovered of MO general revenue of 1.1 billion for SFY 2011. The feds and others kick in the other 5.5 billion. A drop in the bucket.

10% of the recovered money could pay for the Governor's new plane.
