Driver causes 3 crashes, 1 involving state representative

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Missouri Rep. Eric Burlison of Springfield says he is happy to be alive after someone deliberately ran his car off Interstate 44 — one of several accidents caused by the same driver.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 26-year-old man from Indiana was arrested after hitting five vehicles Wednesday night near Strafford.

None of the drivers, including Burlison, was seriously hurt.

Patrol spokesman Sgt. Jason Pace says the driver was speeding while side-swiping and clipping the backs of other vehicles.

Burlison told The Springfield News-Leader (http://sgfnow.co/W2Zl03 ) the driver approached his car, slowed down and then intentionally hit the rear of his vehicle, which spun and was stopped by guardrails.

The patrol says the man was caught soon after when he wrecked the car.
