Cole County to begin billing for false alarms

By a 2-1 vote, the Cole County Commission has voted to be more proactive in enforcing a rule already in place that allows the county to bill landlords or property owners when county ambulances are called out on false alarms.

Ellinger said they needed to start stringently billing if they get significant numbers of false alarms since it costs about $400 for an ambulance to go out on a call.
