Senate Education Committee gets lessons on coming issues

With five new members, the Missouri Senate's Education Committee spent its first meeting Wednesday getting information about some issues they'll have to deal with in the coming months.

Chief among those, said Chairman David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, is the mandate to provide a performance-based plan for funding public colleges and universities.

He posed a prime question the committee must answer: "What are some ways that we can make sure that our higher education institutions are being efficient and doing the most that they can?" he said.
