Wright finds his range against Lincoln
Lions’ freshman scores 24 points in victory against Blue Tigers
Sunday, January 13, 2013
You wouldn’t imagine Missouri Southern’s Austin Wright garnered much attention when Lincoln went over the pregame scouting report. He’s a freshman guard who only averages 2.9 points per game.
Well, Wright sure got Lincoln’s attention Saturday afternoon, when he went off for 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 6-for-8 from 3-point range. His stellar performance led Missouri Southern to a 99-80 victory in a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association contest at Jason Gym.
“I don’t know what it is about this court, but everybody who shoots bad comes in here and breaks out,” Lincoln head coach John Redmond said. “I don’t know if it’s Lincoln or not, but they come in here and have their best game.”
