Your Opinion: Super rich evade higher income taxes

Dear Editor:

Hey all you Obamabots out there that got their way and allowed taxes to increase on all the "millionaires and billionaires," have your taxes gone up? I thought Obama wanted to increase taxes on only the rich in order to have them pay their fair share, even though the highest 5 percent of income earners already pay 58 percent of all federal income taxes? Everybody's FICA tax went up 2 percent to 6.2 percent.

Did Warren Buffet's tax rate increase, even though Obama got the rate increased to 39.6 percent on incomes above $400,000 for single people?

Answer: no it didn't. Buffet still will be paying a lower rate than his secretary. The super rich like Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, George Soros, and many other billionaires don't get their income from earned income; they get it from investment income. The super rich never have a problem with an increase of income tax rates as they have very little if any earned income. Their income is not subject to the earned income tax rates like yours and mine are.

The super rich have always been in favor of increasing income tax rates. Even at the beginning of the federal income tax, the super rich were in favor as it would not touch their money. In addition, they have enough lawyers to insure they are exempted from as much as possible and shelter as much of their money as they can. They want to use our money to provide for the poor rather than give of their own wealth to help the poor.

They fly around the world in their private planes while demanding that we serfs get along in lawn chairs with wheels. I have no problem with people having the money they have, just don't tell me that I can't strive to obtain the same sort of benefit for my family. While Al Gore is living in a 35,000-square-foot house he wants to put us in cardboard boxes. His carbon footprint is larger than almost all of Jefferson City and he tells us that we need to change our lifestyle; what a joke.

The communist pinkos always want to take away from those that produce and give to moochers and parasites in our society. That's exactly what many of the politicians are doing in Washington and here in Jefferson City.

Spending is the problem, people.
