County officials ask for more funds

The Cole County Commission is scheduled to vote on the 2013 budget next week.

This week, commissioners are still hearing from county officials about potential changes they’d like to see in the budget.

County Recorder Larry Rademan on Wednesday asked for money to be put back in to his budget. Those funds, he said, would be used to do microfilming of documents such as marriage licenses and real estate records.

Microfilming? Seriously? Why not digital storage? Much cheaper and permanent. Film is so 20th century.

Of course the medical facilities in this town still have plenty of x-ray machines still using film and haven't been upgraded to much safer and cheaper digital technology too.
