This is desperately needed in our community.

From a previous article: "The cost and scope of a proposed city-run multipurpose building is starting to become clearer, with as many as four basketball courts, an indoor aquatic leisure center and a construction pricetag of more than $22.9 million."

Someone ought to take an inventory of all the basketball courts we have in this town. Many churches have them, nearly all elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, Lincoln University, parochial schools have them, Linn State has them, the national guard armory has them. Blair Oaks has a few.

It is so hard to fathom that we have a need for more basket ball courts in this town, or that four more would make any difference. Instead of duplicating what we already have, how about something new? How about learning how to cooperate and schedule better what we already have?

Same for indoor pools. The YMCA already has a couple. Capitol Region has one. The JC Country Club has one. Lincoln is collecting fees from students to soon build another indoor pool. Why do we need another indoor pool in this town? Why can't we better use the ones we have? The outdoor pools are not used that heavily and are a huge cost drain (not a money-maker) on city tax dollars. Why build another pool?

"Status Quo is us" ought to be on the Jefferson City Official Seal. Doesn't anyone else see what is going on around here?

Lincoln collecte a $12/semester fee from every student in the early 80's for a pool fund. Not sure whatever became of that money.

Is this like the ridiculous sailing club that a certain ex official started? So laughable. They couldn't even take care of the pervs at that place, this ought to draw them in in masses.

Combine the convention center funds and building with the multipurpose building and have a real nice COMMNUNITY CENTER!

Build something BIG that will help draw outsiders but will also serve local residents and businesses!

More of the same is just more of the same.
