Senators prepared for new session

State Sens. Mike Kehoe and Jolie Justus belong to opposing political parties, but represent neighboring districts and have the same legislative priority: Creating more jobs for Missourians.

"I've got economic development bills that I'm focusing on," Justus, D-Kansas City, said, "including an "angel-investment' tax credit and the MOSIRA bill.

"Both of those have statewide implications."

Although elected by Kansas City voters two years ago, Justus' 10th District was moved to east-central Missouri in the redistricting process, and now includes Callaway County.

Sen. Kurt Schaefer, R-Columbia, has chaired the Appropriations Committee for the past two years, and anticipates being appointed to that job again this year.
