Reward money to target illegal guns
Wednesday, January 9, 2013
A program offering rewards to get guns out of the hands of convicted felons has begun in Cole County and may be the first program of its kind in Missouri.
The Remove Felons in Possession of Illegal Firearms Program offers as much as a $150 reward for helping authorities bring charges against convicted felons found to be in possession of firearms.
“We’re about to find out how a big of problem there is,” said Sheriff Greg White. “We are constantly responding to calls where we find felons in possession of guns.”

The Sheriff is trying to turn JC into a town full of snitches. Too Bad $150 ain't worth losing your life for snitching. Yeah they say it is all anonymous and it is until after court and you get your paperwork because all the anonymity is gone. By law the person that snitched on you has to have there name on the paperwork as part of due process and the right to face your accuser. So is $150 worth that persons family member or partner or hell even kid coming to either kill or hurt you because you snitched on somebody. To me it is not. Karma is a Mother For Ya and it comes right back around in one way or another.

Tell us more MO, since you seem to be well-versed in the legalities of 'snitching'. Where did you get the "by law..." part?

I'm not totally disagreeing with you about the risk involved, but "facing your accuser" would be in the case of a crime with a victim who is involved in pressing charges. If you call the cops anonymously and tell them about a meth lab on your block, "YOU" are not the accuser; you've simply passed on a tip. That's why crimestoppers works.

I have seen what the snitching culture does for other towns. It doesn't matter if there is proof of snitching or not, but a lot of folks get beat up or even killed because they are percieved to be snitches. Once labled a snitch, the person will always be a snitch even if they never snitched. Pretty soon the anger in the town is toward the snitches, and the acrual offenders will become the victims. Public sentiment always favors the one who gets snitched on, and nobody likes a snitch. There will be lots of effort to find out who snitched and ruminate about possible snitches. Folks talk, and folks also get even.
I'm not sure this will help anything. It will probably hurt a lot of folks, and many of them might even be innocent.

Karma ? Like getting shot by a worthless thug who doesn't have enough respect for himself to just get a job and shooting people because they don't like the way they look at 'em ? Yea, sooner or later those folks will run into someone who actually know HOW to shoot and they will get their karma . People like you are the problem in the first place , that's why they have this great program . You know someone gonna turn on you .

Sorry Festus But i have a squeaky clean record and ccw to boot so I wish they would try to turn me in they will get themselves in trouble for filling false report.......

false report... yeah, that ought to be some heavy duty punishment. They regularly let repeat DUI offenders walk. I would imagine that the penalties for filing a false report probably involve punishment with a wet noodle.

I would like to submit the name of Eric Holder, 950 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, DC. He knowingly allowed firearms to be sold to felons that were later used in the deaths of many innocents, including a USBP agent.
Aahhh.....doesn't doing one's civic duty feel great!!
