JC man charged with kidnapping teen

A Jefferson City man is scheduled to be arraigned today in Gasconade County in connection with the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl.

Leon Copeland, 30, of 1606 E. Miller St., is charged with one count of kidnapping.

According to the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Department, the incident was reported Dec. 23 after authorities were contacted by the girl’s parents in Rosebud, saying they had received a text from the girl that she was trapped in a car with an unknown male.
