It’s out with the old and in with the new at the Missouri Capitol this month. Not only are lawmakers coming and going, but a new cafeteria opened in the basement of the building Jan. 3.

The cafeteria, previously the Hawthorne Room, has taken on a new name, The Capitol Grill. It’s managed by the Peachtree Catering and Banquet Center, based out of Columbia, and is open weekdays from 7 a.m.-4 p.m.

The renovation cost an estimated $360,000-$480,000, according to the renovation project manual.

This ought to help the legislators pass better laws. Poor things shouldn't have to eat from a tattered cafeteria, or be forced to bring their lunch or even go out.

I'm glad we taxpayers made this half million dollar investment to help our legislators.
