Council to eye new annexation areas
Monday, January 7, 2013
The Jefferson City Council will start the new year off by looking at new areas for possible annexation.
City Administrator Nathan Nickolaus said staff would present proposals Jan. 14 to council members on possible annexation areas to be pursued.
“Our plan has been to do an annexation every year,” Nickolaus said.

Annex a new area every year? That's a lot of roundabouts. JC might grow if there were quaility employment opportunities. Need to take care of what JC has first. Fix these streets. Don't just tar all the cracks. Build and replace sidewalks. Please.

Why does the city have to do a forced annexation every time they want more? If the city is such a good deal, why aren't these areas asking to be annexed?
I would like to know what the city is doing to change the attitudes about annexation. It is always a big stink to do an annexation, and the only way they can get it to pass is by the goofy law they passed about the different elections, and by trying to hold these elections during very low voting turnouts. It just does not seem to be a very positive process, and it really needs to be changed so that maybe it BUILDS trust insead ot destroying trust.

Several years ago when the city annexed the Rolling Hills area the city council insinuated they would improve the park at the corner of Rolling Hills and Southridge. To date, no improvements to what many call 1) we got your vote so we don't care park; 2) forgotten park; and 3) dog feces park. Hold council members to their election "promises."

Walked by the "park" early afternoon and there is some gravel that has been placed and it appeared to have leveled. so some work has begun -- but years too late.
