Winery reopening under new ownership

Before long, there will be people on the outdoor patio to keep the shadows company. The new owner of the former Summit Lake Winery is making numerous changes to the interior with plans to revamp the patio with a new design, new pavers and landscaping.
Before long, there will be people on the outdoor patio to keep the shadows company. The new owner of the former Summit Lake Winery is making numerous changes to the interior with plans to revamp the patio with a new design, new pavers and landscaping.

The former Summit Lake Winery will reopen as Canterbury Hill Winery & Restaurant around March 1, sporting a full-service, American-style restaurant and expanded bar.

Bluff View Manor, the new property owner, will lease the business to Jefferson City resident D.J. Drury, the proprietor of the winery. Although Drury has no experience in restaurant management, he has extensive experience in retail management, previously with Walmart and currently with Stockman Stoneworks.

"It's not going to be too hard to take something that was really going well already and just expanding on it," said Cheri Willett, a friend of Drury's who is helping to market the business and get it off the ground.
