Shooting suspect turns himself in

A man sought by Jefferson City authorities in connection with a New Year's Day shooting turned himself in to the Boone County Sheriff's Department on Friday afternoon.

"The suspect is in custody," Sergeant Mike Krohn confirmed Friday evening.

26-year-old Daleron Monroe of Columbia was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault and armed criminal action after a shooting that occurred in Jefferson City at Phillips 66, 807 Stadium Blvd., on New Year's Day.

Store video shows shots being fired between Monroe and Byron Betts, 29, Jefferson City, who is still at-large. Betts is being sought on warrants for armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm in this case.

Byron Betts' brother, Brandon Betts, 29, Jefferson City, is being held at the Cole County Jail on $100,000 bond after being charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
