Your Opinion: Views on guns not confined to ‘liberals’
Thursday, January 3, 2013
Dear Editor:
I read with interest the letter of Mr. Horstmann.
What disturbs me the most is his idea that somehow, only “liberals’ want to talk about the gun culture in this country. Many members of the public, of all political beliefs and opinions, want an open discussion about the general issue of guns in our society.
Yes, we have a constitutional right to own a gun. However, every right we have comes with limitations. Although women have a constitutional right to an abortion, many laws have been passed placing restrictions on that right. Our right of free speech and to vote, each has numerous legal restrictions placed on them.
To try and say the only ones talking about gun control are “liberals” is to avoid the reality of public opinion
Are more controls a good thing? Only time and very honest and open discussion of the issue will enlighten us. However, hopefully we will accept that there are strong opinions and valuable views on each side of the issue.

Somehow I must have missed the part that said.
The ability to be totally free of guilt and any responsibility of child rearing that might limit a woman's options for employment being needed for a strong union. It shall be the right of all women to have an abortion at will with no infringement or delay.
I just do not remember seeing that in the Constitution anywhere.
