One hospitalized after Jefferson City shooting
Tuesday, January 1, 2013
The investigation continues into why a non-fatal shooting occurred early New Year’s Day in Jefferson City.
Detectives spent the day trying to gather information about the incident which was reported just before 5 a.m.
Police reports show the shooting occurred at Phillips 66, 807 Stadium Boulevard.
Initial reports said multiple shots had been fired in the area.
When officers got on the scene, another call came in to the 911 center asking for officers to respond to Capital Region Hospital.
There they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.
The victim was later transferred to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
Authorities said he was in stable condition.
They also believed the scenario for this incident may be similar to past incidents — an argument occurs at a party or bar and the participants go to the convenience store for a confrontation.

Ok....we get the mesasge. Yopu shooter's are misunderstood, mistreated, disrespected, legitimate gun owner's who are simply exercising your 2nd Amend rights to possess a fire-arm and to defned yourself against the person who is tyrying to take your Dope, Woman, or Hood. We get it...now you get this. JC citizens...somebody knows what this mess is about, talk to the cops, talk to somebody, dooooooo something. It's day one of 2013...and we have a senseless shooting taking place already.

While I agree with your plea for folks to tell what they know, I don't believe the persons involved in this situation (both sides) are all that legitimate as to gun ownership/possession, given the time they were out and about and especially if drugs and/or alcohol are involved, which in my humble opinion is likely the case. But hey, we'll see how the story comes out.

Oh good grief. This is down there on Stadium by Breaktime / BP stations where all the thugster wannabees hang out during the middle of the night. Something needs to be done about all the loitering and shootings down there. Why can't they go somewhere else out in the country to shoot at each other?

Time for Jefferson City to shut down the Salvation Army Shelter. The thugs from St. Louis, Detroit, and Chicago are taking the train to Jefferson City and having a picnic. Take away the hand that is feeding them.

There are actually people in need in Jeff City, the Salvation Army Shelter does not need to be closed. Yes there was a shooting and somebody knows about the details. However, whether we want to admit it or not there are people in Jeff City, not from anywhere else, not from the big cities, who are not thugs and who truly need help. Jeff City just as any other city in America does have homeless; so quit trying to say we don't. This is not a perfect place. There are lots of situations that are never even reported, so this is not Eutopia!!!!!

The area is a known hotspot for violent conflicts and illegal activity. Usually sometime between the hours of 11pm and 4am on weekends, holidays, and days of sporting events. Likely this incident occurred near a shift change for one or more badges.
This really seems a no-brainer for enforcement personnel, regardless of their agency of affiliation; MSHP, CCSD, JCPD all seem to filler up (gas or coffee, sometimes BR break) at the stations up on Ellis in the vicinity of Hwy 54. Seems like it would be a pretty simple thing to change-up patterns and go an extra mile or two if it's on the way to wherever they're headed. Heck, I know the problem area, pattern, and timing of events--and I'm a civvy.

I wonder if that is our good old bar that does not serve alcohol, and does not have to close until the Rooster Crows ,or the Police arrive? Rob

I lived in JC for 12 years, and now I live in Tampa,FL. Hate to say it, but the bubble is cracking, and theres not much anyone can do about it. It's an ugly world we live in, and I would hate see a town like Jefferson City succumb to to such violence. However, alot of you need to realize that perhaps the people are not from St.louis, or another bigger city. Believe it or not there's truly bad people living IN JC, there always have been, like in any town or city. I looked it up a,d JC has about 40,000 people while Tampa has over 350,000. Per capita the two are almost the same......somthing to think about.
