Dear Editor:
I would like to share my thoughts regarding the Feb. 16 News Tribune article, "Democrat proposes assault weapon ban." Rep. Rory Ellinger, of University City, conveniently forgets he is an elected official, who supposedly took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and failed to understand that anti-gun supporters true reasons behind anti-gun legislations, is to control criminals or our citizens.
Mr. Ellinger, I am sick of progressives giving their fruitcake interpretations of gun control, and their use of emotion and misinformation to mislead the public. The state is not the government, the people are the government, unless we just woke up in the Third Reich.
"To conquer a nation first disarm its citizens," Adolf Hitler. If Hitler was elected president today, the Second Amendment would have stopped Hitler. "Citizens who cannot trust their government band together in fear. If people in positions of power commit unlawful acts and are not held accountable, then citizens' fear of the government is justified."
