Lady Cougars tie for title

FULTON — The Columbia College Lady Cougars wrapped up a share of the American Midwest Conference title with a 76-65 win Saturday against William Woods.

Columbia College, which finishes as co-champions with Lyon (Ark.) College, won at least a share of its first straight regular-season conference title. The Lady Cougars are now 24-6 overall and 17-1 in league play.

Columbia College, ranked 15th among NAIA schools, led the 22nd-ranked Owls 36-29 at halftime.

Julie Teeple (Versailles High School) racked up 16 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals for the winners.

Columbia College, which won a tiebreaker over Lyon, will serve as the No. 1 seed in the AMC Tournament. They will host a quarterfinal game Wednesday against either eighth-seeded Park or ninth-seeded Stephens.
