Lincoln-Emporia baseball games canceled

COFFEYVILLE, Kan. - Despite their best efforts, the Lincoln and Emporia State baseball teams were unable to get in any games over the weekend.

A three-game series scheduled for Lincoln Field was threatened by last week's winter storm, and the teams tried to salvage any games possible by moving them.

But with Emporia State's field also unplayable, the teams tried to get the field at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College into playing shape. But that attempt failed Saturday, and with a forecast of more snow, the series was canceled. Due to Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association rules, it will not be made up.

Lincoln will now attempt to return to action Saturday and Sunday against Washburn. The Blue Tigers will host a doubleheader at noon Saturday before a single game starting at noon at Lincoln Field on Sunday.
