Girls Basketball: St. Elizabeth 70, Weaubleau 45

BOLIVAR, Mo. — The St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets are back in the Class 1 state basketball playoffs.
Savannah Stiles and Allie Heckemeyer combined for 53 points Saturday afternoon to lead second-seeded St. Elizabeth in a 70-45 victory against top-seeded Weaubleau in the Class 1 District 6 Tournament title game.
With the win, St. Elizabeth (21-7) advances to Tuesday night’s sectional game against Walnut Grove (25-2) at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar. The girls game will start at 7:45 p.m.
St. Elizabeth led 18-15 after one quarter before slowly pulling away Saturday. The Lady Hornets took a 34-25 advantage into intermission, then led 50-35 after three quarters.
Stiles finished with a game-high 27 points. On Saturday, she eclipsed the 1,000-point barrier for her career. Heckemeyer totaled 26 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists.
Dana Graves finished with 20 points to lead Weaubleau, while Katie Burkhart added 12. Weaubleau was ranked 10th in the final regular-season Class 1 girls state poll.
Earlier Saturday, top-seeded Macks Creek won the District 6 boys title with a 67-55 victory against sixth-seeded Humansville.
