Boys Basketball: Russellville 54, Tipton 53

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - Brenden Jackson tossed in 27 points Saturday night to lift the Russellville Indians to the title of the Class 2 District 8 Tournament with a 54-53 victory against the Tipton Cardinals.

With the win, fourth-seeded Russellville (21-7) advances to Wednesday night's sectional game against the Salisbury Panthers (26-1) at Fleming Fieldhouse. Game time is 6 p.m.

Tipton led 14-10 after one quarter and took a slim 20-18 advantage into halftime. Russellville outscored Tipton 19-10 in the third quarter to take a 37-30 lead into the final period.

Dustin Burgess added 10 points for the Indians, while Levi Anderson totaled nine.

Tipton, the No. 2 seed, ends the season at 19-8.

Salisbury, ranked No. 2 in the final regular-season state poll, advanced to the sectional with an 82-34 victory against Fayette on Saturday.
