Jefferson City and Cole County road crews hope to get some rest this weekend after spending the past two days dealing with a major snow storm.
"By today (Friday), we got over all our roads," said Cole County Public Works Director Larry Benz. "We appreciate the public being patient with us."
"All our streets were opened by Friday afternoon," said Britt Smith, Jefferson City operations director. "There's still snow in some intersections. But overall, I'm happy with what we did."
Both men said the crews worked hard to keep up with a storm that put down 8 to 10 inches of snow and sleet, and most of it coming down at a rapid rate.
"Temperatures are expected to warm up during the daytime this weekend so we are looking at lots of melting. But that will also lead to re-freezing at night, so that is an issue we'll have to monitor," Smith said.
"This was a hard snow on our equipment," Benz said. "We spent Friday repairing trucks, but overall it was normal maintenance. We're getting ready for possibly another storm Monday night. We did use a lot of supplies for this storm, but we're still in good shape."
Rain and snow are being predicted again in Mid-Missouri on Monday.
