LSU downs Missouri women in OT

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Thursday's snowstorm forced Missouri and LSU to push back Thursday night's women's basketball game to Friday afternoon.

It turned out to be worth the wait for LSU, which staved off a late Missouri rally and knocked off the Tigers 78-74 in overtime at Mizzou Arena.

LSU dominated overtime after blowing a double-digit lead in the second half. Missouri never led in regulation and trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half.

LSU led 60-52 with 5:38 left before Missouri rallied. The Tigers closed regulation on a 14-4 run and tied the game on a 3-pointer by Kyley Simmons with 1:13 left to force overtime.

A layup by Liz Smith put Missouri ahead 68-66 with 4:10 left in overtime. But LSU immediately went on an 9-0 run to put the game away. A 3-pointer by Bri Kulas with less than 5 seconds remaining cut the lead to four points.

Liene Priede led Missouri with 18 points. Kulas added 17 and Smith, who played 42 minutes, had 15 for Missouri which hit 10-of-20 3-pointers. Syndey Crafton (Jefferson City High School) had seven points.

Theresa Plaisance led LSU with 21 points as the team hit 19-of-23 free throws.

Missouri (15-12, 4-9 SEC) plays again Sunday at Auburn.

LSU (16-10, 7-6 SEC), still hoping for an NCAA Tournament berth, hosts No. 8 Kentucky on Sunday.
