Area teams adjust after snow cancels games

Thursday's weather has forced everyone back to the drawing board when it comes to scheduling.

Several area districts have been affected going forward:

• Action in the Class 3 District 8 Tournament has been moved to Friday, weather permitting. The semifinals feature Blair Oaks against Hallsville at 6 p.m. and Southern Boone against Eugene at 7:30 p.m. The girls championship game between Blair Oaks and California, originally set for tonight, has been shifted to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

• It's a similar story in Class 3 District 9, as both boys semifinals are now set for Friday. Fatima will play Dixon at 6 p.m. and St. James will face off with Cuba at 7:30 p.m. The title game, set for Saturday, will now be held at 8 p.m. as the girls championship game will shift from Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday.

• Ditto for the boys in Class 2 District 8. They'll now play their games Friday - Cole Camp vs. Russellville at 6 p.m. and Tipton vs. Linn at 7:30 p.m. - forcing the girls title game between Russellville and Linn to take place at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

• And it's more of the same in Class 1 District 9. Both boys semifinals will shift to Friday, pitting Glasgow against Prairie Home at 6 p.m. and Community R-VI against Chamois at 7:30 p.m. That will force the girls title game between Chamois and Glasgow to move to 2 p.m. Saturday.

In regular-season action, the Helias Lady Crusaders saw their season finale get moved. Their game against Owensville, originally set for Thursday, will now be played at 6 p.m. Friday, preceding the boys game between Helias and Rock Bridge set for 7:30 p.m.

The Lincoln women's tennis team saw its season-opening matches set for Friday get canceled. The Blue Tigers were originally slated to play three matches this weekend at the Missouri Western Invite in St. Joseph, including a scheduled match with Maryville on Saturday that had already been postponed. Lincoln was also supposed to open Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play with a match against tournament host Missouri Western Friday, and that contest will be rescheduled for later this season. There are no plans to reschedule a match with Newman, the Blue Tigers' other scheduled opponent for Friday.
